Does CBD get you high?
Are there any benefits?
What if I'm taking other medications?

CBD is fast becoming the wellness product of our time. If you live in a state where it's currently legal, you might feel like CBD seems to be absolutely everywhere. But with the popularity comes the unknown. Many find use of CBD confusing. Let's help answer our most frequently asked questions.

What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, a chemical compound from the Cannabid sativa plant, which is also known as marijuana or hemp, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine. It's a naturally occuring substance that's used in products like oils and edibles to impart a feeling of relaxation and calm. Unlike its cousin, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the major psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, CBD is not psychoactive.    Reference CBDMD
Will CBD get me high?
No. The cannabis plant is made up of two main players: CBD and THC. There are two possible exceptions to this. The first is that some people, for unknown reasons, just react differently to CBD. You never know how your body will react to any new supplement, so when taking CBD for the first time, do so safely under supervision. It's also crucial to buy third-party-tested CBD for quality assurance. Because the FDA doesn't regulate CBD, it is possible to buy a product that is more or less potent than advertised, or even contains small amounts of THC. Reference CBDMD
What are the health benefits of CBD?
The only CBD medication that is currently FDA-approved is Epidiolex, which the agency approved last year for the treatment of certain types of epilepsy. But many people swear CBD has helped with a slew of other health conditions, including back pain, osteoarthritis, even cancer. Reference FDA
Does CBD have side effects?
CBD does not have any long-term, adverse side effects. While generally well-tolerated, CBD can cause dry mouth, changes in appetite, fatigue, and diarrhea. Side effects are often the result of improper dosage, incompatible product (full-spectrum vs. isolate), potential drug interactions, or a poorly formulated CBD product. Reference CBDMD
Does CBD have Drug interactions?
Yes, CBD temporarily deactivates the cytochrome p450 system which is responsible for metabolizing the majority of traditional pharmaceuticals and supplements. Always speak to your healthcare professional before trying CBD. Reference Harvard Medical

There are literally hundreds of CBD brands at this point. Hemp Nursing has done the research, understands labeling, and reviews lab testing results. Products on HempNursing.com has researched for the following:
Has it been third-party tested?
What's the dosing, and is it accurate?
Is the label easy to read?
Is it from a trusted source? Are there additional ingredients? Reference CBD Examine
But is it legal?
First, a little background. Industrial hemp was legal in the United States until Congress passed the Marijuana Tax Act in 1937. In 2014 the Farm Bill took the position that states can regulate the production of hemp and, as a result, CBD. Then in 2018, President Trump signed a new Farm Bill that made it federally legal to grow hemp. The latest bill removed hemp from the Drug Enforcement Administration, or DEA's, purview. And while it's legal under federal law, it must contain less than 0.3% THC. It's up to each state to set their own policy. Reference FDA
Will CBD show up on a drug test?
If it is less than 0.3% and third-party lab-tested, it will not show up. Reference CBDMD
Can I give it to my children?
There currently are no federal regulations establishing an age requirement for taking CBD. Cibadol products are intended for adults who are 18 and older. It is up to parent or guardian discretion to speak with their pediatricians to discuss the best course of action for their children. Reference FDA
Can I give it to my pet?
Generally we expect CBD products to be safe, and they could show some benefit for anxiety in pets, according to some veterinarians. As with children, CBD dosing for pets is typically calculated by body weight. Check with your veterinarian before administering CBD. Reference FDA
Is it safe for seniors?
Yes, CBD is safe for seniors. Please be aware that CBD does pose potential drug interactions making it important to speak to your healthcare professional before trying CBD. Reference FDA
What are the dosage parameters?
What is the difference between CBD abd THC?
While CBD and THC are both naturally-occurring compounds in cannabis plants, THC is psychoactive while CBD is nonpsychoactive. Reference Healthline.com
What does Independent Third-Party Lab Tested mean?
This refers to lab testing that’s completed on CBD products by an outside party. While there are no federal regulations that require this testing, Hemp Nursing is committed to full transparency and maintains these strict testing standards to ensure the safety and efficacy of all products. Reference CBD Examine
